A Year and a New Home
The morning of a new day dawning. Its silence only broken by the sounds of the birds cheerfully chirping and the soft putter-patter as the other, larger creatures of the Satori Forest that were getting ready for any and all events. Deep in the forest, hidden under the leaves and branches of a tall tree, the structure of a sturdy, strong and cozy single-story tree house seemed to grow out of the tree itself. And to complete the look were a set of spiral stairs. On the inside, the Hayai wolf beastling was pulling her dress over her head, slipped it on and her leather boots before looking around. Finally brushing her hair, ears and tail before grabbing an apple and heading outside with her backpack as usual.
Outside, the wolf lady was met at the bottom of the stairs by her wolf companion. Due to the change in climate, her friend's fur had gotten more golden tan in color and thinner coat since it was no longer cold. Looking back on their journey from the arctic, Sarifa shivered a little but smiled. It was hard to believe that they had made it with relatively no harm. Climbing the mountain and walking the mountain pass was the hardest, the beastling remembered fondly. It had already been a year, but Syndel and herself would have to agree, staying in the forest mostly unless they needed something. Leaning against the trunk of their home, Sarifa looked up at the bright sky.
Syndel sat up in her wolf form as usual. Seeing her beastling friend so happy, it made her overjoyed as well. They had spent only a few weeks traveling but that was nothing compared to the paradise they found. The Satori forest was home now, the wolf thought contently as she stood and walked over to her mistress. It was not to be the same and she hoped that after a year in the forest, they would not return to the cold and drab tundra. Beside her friend, she stretched out in the shade of the tree and yawned. Yes, the wolf was very pleased and content with their new home. Nothing could go wrong in the female wolf's innocent mind.

A Run in the Satori Forest
Sarifa smiled to her wolf companion before looking out to the trees with sharp but smiling obsidian eyes. Taking in a deep breath, the petite wolf beastling was happy as can be. Agreeing with her friend that nothing could surely ruin such a day, she looked over to Syndel. "Shall we go for a run?" She inquired of her wolf, wagging her tail excitedly. Yes, she did seem to be a ball of energy, and it was something she wanted to release.
The tan and white wolf who sat beside her companion looked up as she was asked her opinion. Seeing and smelling her friend's excitement, the female canine wagged her tail happily. "Yes, yes we shall. Breakfast should be out there still," She responded telepathically. Her yellow-green eyes shining with glee. It seemed to happen a lot, when her mistress was happy or sad or nervous, she was as well.
In hearing her companion's response, the wolf girl smiled to her and nodded in agreement. As if to agree, a third party rumbled softly, making the two chuckle. "Well then, I will race you. Rabbits in southwest," She said, her ears twitching at the different sounds and smells and tastes on the winds, she thought. Then without another word, the beastling ran.
Syndel only shook her head at her mistress. "Still so young and playful," She thought with sincere affection. Then blinking a few times in surprise, the wolf growled softly, playfully before dashing after her friend. She would not want to miss the family of rabbits and she definitely wanted breakfast. There was no way she would let Sarifa get to it before her. "Sarifa, don't skin them yet!" She yelled telepathically to the petite wolf girl. Syn was concerned because she liked the skin when rabbit was cooked.
Sarifa giggled softly as she had left her friend behind. She wasn't worried though, Syndel would catch up to her soon enough. And like she predicted, her friend was by her side once again. Smiling slightly, the little beastling nodded. "I promise, just for you," Sarifa replied to her friend's worry. While this went on, they had continued to run, and while doing so, they kept their senses focused on everything around them before they would get to their hunting grounds.

Exit to see the intruders
As the wolf beastling and her companion were heading out on the hunt, she skidded to a stop. As sounds on the winds carried to her ears, they perked up and twitched this way and that before she turned around in the direction that said noise was coming from. Syndel had stopped as well and froze, listening as well as sniffed the air. There was a strange scent...not normal to the forest. "Shall we approach with caution?" She inquired calmly. As always, she would look to her mistress and alpha. Syn awaited Sarifa's answer before dashing off, her paws barely hitting the forest ground. Sarifa blinked and dashed off with her companion, being just as quiet; swift but controlled, like a wolf's glide. She felt her heart racing, just at the thought that there could be something new. But she knew they would have to be cautious; the intruder of the forest didn't smell human at all. Her curiosity would get her in trouble, she thought to herself as she ran alongside her companion. It wouldn't be long before they would reach the strangers then.
